Tandem

About

Tandem is the juxtaposition of opposites that attract: prairies and concrete, sunlight and traffic lights, wood and linked chain. Tandem is our effort to split the difference, and bring the two together.

Tandem started as an experiment between a clothing designer and a sculptor and has developed into a beautiful thing. We make the pieces out of carved wood, metal chains, leather ribbons and charms. We hand pick the charms or discover them in antique or vintage stores. Each piece is unique.

Lizz works with the metal, charms and other findings (and illustrated the site). She was a clothing designer for Urban Outfitters/Free People and now focuses on her own line (popomomo ), and design and illustration work in New York.

Isaac is a sculptor and graduated from the Cooper Union a few years ago. He carves the wood pieces from raw heartwood. (And did the web work for our site, too.)

We live and work together in Philadelphia and Brooklyn.
